Welcome to Anna Lisa's WinsomeWorks: On Seeing the Forest for the Trees -- Images & Scribbles

...a spot for musings about my photography and other art-loving rambles. In the wise words of the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien:
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost...
I'll venture into other intrigues at times if the trees feel too thick around here. Sometimes I'm so focused on a back-lit leaf that I don't even see the tree, let alone the forest! Either way, if you're charmed by my ramblings or focuses, I hope you'll sign my guestbook above. Keep wondering & wandering; yet when your roots want to reach deep, let them... when the time is right. --Anna Lisa Yoder

Happy October 1st Birthday (a few hours late) to me!

Back-lit Fall Maple Leaf in Dried Leaves

In this season of changing colors and on my 2009 birthday (Oct. 1, but in the wee hours), I'm attempting to re-start what was my first photography blog. As soon as it's ready, my blog will be accessible from my galleries on SmugMug, at WinsomeWorks.com . Fall seems the right time to start over. New thoughts and ideas come to my mind this time of year as warmth leaves the soil but saturates the leaf hues.

In my art, I'm interested in bringing folks ’round to the realization that there are at least as many ways of seeing as there are people in this world. Another thing– It’s a great and exciting world, yet there’s wondrous beauty being overlooked right in our own backyard. This back-lit leaf above fell about 20 ft. from my back door one fall, & I spent over an hour photographing the scene. Another autumn closeup below, “Autumn Maple Leaf Pair on Moody Rock” is an oldie from my good old Kodachrome 64 days that's been a favorite for many of my viewers. Hope you’ll enjoy the colors & viewpoints here, and the surprises of the backyard as well as around the planet! Sidebar links will take you to my entire gallery and I hope to post regularly. I'll eventually add some poetic posts or pages here. -–Anna Lisa Yoder
