Welcome to Anna Lisa's WinsomeWorks: On Seeing the Forest for the Trees -- Images & Scribbles

...a spot for musings about my photography and other art-loving rambles. In the wise words of the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien:
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost...
I'll venture into other intrigues at times if the trees feel too thick around here. Sometimes I'm so focused on a back-lit leaf that I don't even see the tree, let alone the forest! Either way, if you're charmed by my ramblings or focuses, I hope you'll sign my guestbook above. Keep wondering & wandering; yet when your roots want to reach deep, let them... when the time is right. --Anna Lisa Yoder

Who's got the twisted mind now?

Liminality: Dead Hydrangea macrophylla Leaf, Back-lit

Two of my submissions to the juried Phillips Mill Photographic Exhibition this year were from a November '09 afternoon in our backyard when a few drooping leaves of a straggling hydrangea bush were back-lit by the last rays of sun. “Liminality: Dead Hydrangea macrophylla Leaf, Back-lit", above, is my favorite. The judges, however, liked my "Twisted Hydrangea macrophylla...” image below! The show, in New Hope, PA, will be open to the public from June 5 – June 26, 2011. Most works, including my own, will be for sale. Prints are always available on my SmugMug site as well. –Anna Lisa
